Personal Requirements Age ▫Between 17-35 Weight and Height ▫Indicated by a chart ▫ Inch-pound ratio is about 1:3.5 Have a relatively clean record ▫Excessive Traffic tickets could actually hurt your chances of joining Pass the ASVB (Armed Services Vocational Battery) test (NOT BEN AFFLECK)

Training Basic Training ▫Program changed in 2005 This change adds emphasis on weapon training as well as stricter physical standards. The new program takes away from “Airmanship” activities, such as folding underwear into 6 inch squares. ▫Over 65,000 recruits go through AFBMT each year

History The Army Air Service was created in 1918 ▫Was a co-branch under the Army Reached its peak in world war 2 ▫With 80,000 aircraft and 2.5 million personnel “Won it’s independence” as its own branch in 1947 Discovered new technology ▫Throughout the Cold War, the Air Force used as much of its budget as possible to “modernize” the military
