In the early days Henry Ford was the most influential man in the development of the automobile. Due to hard work of early pioneers the outlook for automotive technician are excellent. Ford motor company was the first company to use the assembly line.

Orientation TO Automotive The first automotive was built by two French inventors/brothers. Charles and Frank Duryes in 1893 Today Asia, North America and Europe are major automotive producers. In the early 70s a fuel crises caused a major change in the American automotive industry

Orientation TO Automotive Wit the introduction of advance electronic there are a need for more specialization in the automotive repair industry. Today most technician are paid on flat rate.

Orientation TO Automotive Professional automotive technician are ASE certified through the: National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence ASE was started in 1975 ASE is a non-profit organization. To become Master certified a technician must be certified in all 8 automotive certification areas.

Orientation TO Automotive ASE test are given 2 times per year. Anyone taking and ASE test must show 2 years automotive service experience. High School automotive experience can count for 1 years experience.

Orientation TO Automotive Vehicles today are either rear wheel drive, meaning power is delivered to the road by the rear wheels Front wheel drive meaning power is delivered to the road by the front wheels.

Orientation TO Automotive Working in the service industry can be very rewarding. Most technician are paid using a flat rate manual. Flat rate manual given the approx time required to perform automotive repairs on most vehicles. A technician is paid his hourly rate x the amount of flat rate hours.

Orientation TO Automotive To aid in repairing vehicles manufacture sent out TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) TSB are free to the general public through the NTSB ( National Highway Traffic Safety Board)

Orientation TO Automotive When working in a shop safety rules must be followed such as: Keeping the shop clean No throwing objects NO horseplay Blow guns should be 30 PSI or less Everyone should know the location of fire extinguisher, First aid kits and phone Automotive shop should be kept clean

Orientation TO Automotive In an automotive shop safety is everyone responsibility. Most school have a safety pledge that must be sign by Instructor Students Principal
