SENIOR TIME LINE SEPTEMBER Make sure your fall and spring schedules of classes include career/college/major admission requirements. Get applications for the college(s) you wish to attend by checking with the school’s website for online registration Sign up for the ACT or SAT test, along with any required SAT Subject Tests as early as possible. Most schools will not accept a test taken after the December date, and several require the test be taken by the November date Surf the Internet to locate college and financial aid Information Discuss ROP courses with your counselor Pursue Scholarships at the www.jfkhs.org – Resources – Career Center/College Information – Scholarships.www.jfkhs.org Register at www.fastweb.com for additional Scholarshipswww.fastweb.com

SENIOR TIME LINE OCTOBER Identify staff that can write strong recommendation letter for you. Give them your requests at least two weeks before you need the letter. Finish essay for college admission for UC’s or private schools Attend College Fairs and make last visits to campuses (October 13, 2009 @ Ohlone College) Begin submitting CSU application between October 1 and November 30 Begin submitting forms to private source of financial aid (i.e. campus scholarships, grants, etc.) Pursue Scholarships at the www.jfkhs.org – Resources – Career Center/College Information – Scholarships.www.jfkhs.org Register at www.fastweb.com for additional Scholarshipswww.fastweb.com

SENIOR TIME LINE NOVEMBER Submit admission applications electronically to UC to UC beginning November 1 thru November 30. Submit admission applications electronically to UC or CSU systems no later than November 30. Obtain recommendation letters by November 15 Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov for the pre-application worksheet for the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) (March 2 deadline). Get a PIN number for you and a parent to electronically sign by registering at www.pin.ed.govwww.fafsa.ed.govwww.pin.ed.gov Have your transcripts sent to requesting colleges. SENIOR TIME LINE JANUARY Attend your school’s or local college’s financial aid night with your parents Pick up your Cal Grant (Free money for the State of California to attend college) form from the College Center, room 204, and return it ASAP (March 2 deadline) to the College Center Register for AP exams.
