The Meaning of Christmas
“Christmas is a day of meaning and traditions, a special day spent in the warm circle of family and friends.” - Margaret Thatcher “The central miracle asserted by Christians is the Incarnation.... Every other miracle prepares for this, or exhibits this, or results from this.... It was the central event in the history of the Earth—the very thing that the whole story has been about.” - C.S. Lewis

1 John 1:1-4 We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning… We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands… And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us… And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.

O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:4 “We write this to make our joy complete.”

The Meaning of Christmas
1 John 4:9–10; John 1:12 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. …to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. Real love is possible. True joy is possible. Christmas makes peace possible. “The point of Christmas is that Jesus Christ really lived, and He really died. It happened in history. He did these things. He said these things.” – Tim Keller
