There are abundant opportunities for local and regional Bicentennial celebrations, projects and programs to reflect upon 200 years of progress with genuine Hoosier pride and ingenuity.

Bicentennial Nature Trust (BNT) Bicentennial Nature Trust (BNT) a program to acquire land for conservation and recreation to leave as a perpetual gift to all Hoosiers as part of the Bicentennial Celebration in 2016. History of Parks The Evolution of our Parks In the late 19th century, large tracts of land on the outskirts of cities were purchased by city governments to create "pleasure grounds”…to relax in nature, a place of refuge. In the early 1900’s U.S. cities began to include neighborhood parks with swimming pools, playgrounds and civic buildings in a city’s design.
