Plural Nouns Plural nouns name more than one person, place, or thing. They usually ends with s or es.

Are these nouns plural or singular? 1.houses 2.baby 3.animals 4.tables 5.books 6.blueberries

Add es to make nouns plural that end with s, ss, ch, sh, x, or z: bus busses dress dresses church churches bush bushes tax taxes buzz buzzes

Add ies to make nouns plural that end with a consonant and a y: lady ladies fry fries

If a noun ends in a vowel and y, add s : monkey monkeys toy toys

Some nouns that end in f or fe change to ves when made plural: calf calves knife knives

Some nouns that end in o change to es when made plural. Some change to s: kangaroo kangaroos potato potatoes

Some nouns do not change at all when made plural: sheep deer
