5 Map Out The Best Route of Attack Develop and implement task-oriented, deadline- oriented, personalized job-search plan-do not do this at random Schedule time each week to work on job search plan Set small, incremental goals and chip away at them

Register with third-party firms. Three types- Temporary, Public (state employment offices) and Private (Headhunters)

9 Hidden Job Market Strategies Mass mailings -use online employer directories and make little changes in cover or resume but make sure they are for that industry-Keep records Targeted mailings -Develop list of 10-15 top companies-Locate contact names and research companies-tailor cover and resume-Do follow-up calls and make sure your cover says you will do so

10 More Hidden Job Market Strategies Networking-Let everyone know you are seeking job- Meet with Career Center for their contacts-Talk to faculty-Use friends, family, Mentors, Networking events, etc. You must take time to practice your interviewing skills-reflect your skills, research, mock interviews Persevere! Don’t worry about being told no so many times, it only takes one yes.
