OUR SOLAR SYSTEM Our solar system has eight different planets with a dwarf planet named Pluto. We are the third planet in the solar system.

SUN The sun is really a star. It is made of fire and gas.

Mercury Mercury is one of the hottest planets in the solar system. Mercury is about the size of Earth.

Venus Venus is the second planet to the sun. Venus is the warmest.

OUR EARTH This is our planet, and we call it Earth. The Earth is made mostly of water.

THE ASTEROID BELT The asteroid belt divides the inner planets and outer planets. They call it an asteroid belt because it has asteroids in the shape of a belt.

JUPITER Jupiter is the biggest planet in the galaxy. Jupiter has about 63 moons.

SATURN Saturn is the planet with rings. No one has been on Saturn.

URANUS Uranus spins on its side unlike most planets. It has just about 27 moons.

NEPTUNE Neptune is made up of hydrogen and helium. It has no more than 13 moons.

DWARF PLANETS There are 5 different dwarf planets. Nobody knows how may moons there are.

STARS Stars are millions of pieces of gas. They make pictures in your mind called constellations if you look closely.

CONSTELLATIONS Constellations are pictures that you see in the stars. This constellation is Orion and comes from a story in Greek times.

GALAXY We live in a galaxy our galaxy is called the milky way. Galaxies have stars and planets.

THE MILKY WAY The Milky Way is the galaxy that we live in. It looks beautiful from space I bet.

UNIVERSE The universe includes everything in space. The planet Earth is in the universe too.

comet A comet is a big rock that would mostly come in 50 years. They are big rocks that almost hit earth.

telescope A telescope can see stuff in outer space like the moon There are very big telescope to see different planets.
