2 Osteoporosis Osteoporosis is the thinning of bone tissue and loss of bone density over time. The most common type of bone disease. There are no symptoms in the early stages of the disease. Researchers estimate that about 1 out of 5 American women over the age of 50 have osteoporosis. About half of all women over the age of 50 will have a fracture of the hip, wrist, or vertebra (bones of the spine).

4 Osteoporosis Exercise is recommended to patients with osteopenia and osteoporosis Aim of study: assess the effect of specific weight training exercise protocol in the values of bone mineral density (BMD) in the lumbar spine and hip in women with postmenopausal osteopenia or osteoporosis

14 Purpose Conduct a randomized control trial to test three areas of exercise for twenty weeks designed specifically for women with osteoporosis. Three areas are static balance, dynamic balance, and knee extension strength.
