Review What is PERIMETER? PERIMETER is the total distance around the shape How do you find PERIMETER? PERIMETER = add up the sides
7
Missing Sides Sometimes, you’re missing numbers on your shape You need to solve for the missing side(s) BEFORE finding the perimeter
8
Missing Sides Match the PARALLELS – Lines that do not cross each other – Same size on the same side or opposite side
9
Missing Sides ADD the shorter sides to find the LONGER side 3 4
10
Missing Sides Use the LONGER side to solve for the missing shorter side – ADD up the shorter sides; SUBTRACT from the longer side
11
Given Perimeter If given the perimeter, PLUG in the information you know SOLVE for the missing sides Perimeter = 30 10 Tools: Add Subtract Divide ?
