1 WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT ADULT Program SERVING GILA & PINAL COUNTIES

3 The WIA Program replaced what was formerly known as the Job Training Partnership Act JTPA Program, in 2000. WIA is federally funded and provides education and training directly related to employment for income eligible applicants.

4 Complete Pre-Application and Pre-Screening You must attend an Orientation A Case Manager will set up an individual in-take appointment (for eligible/selected applicants only) and provide required documentation Complete testing & assessments You must actively participate in developing your training plan.

5 MANDATORY TESTING Will be provided to each participant to determine skills levels in: *Reading *Math *Language *Career Interests http://online.onetcenter.org *Career Readinesshttp://online.onetcenter.org Anyone scoring below 9 th grade level will be referred to a local provider to assist you with general education skills

6 WIA is not an entitlement program. Everyone that is determined eligible is not entitled to receive services. WIA funding is limited and enrollment is based on those most in need of our services and most willing to succeed. Not everyone is enrolled in the program. Once you have successfully completed the entire process, you will receive a Notice of Eligibility. In the event that you are not enrolled in the program, CAAG/WIA Staff will assist you in other alternatives.

7 GED/Basic Education Skills(referral) Classroom/Vocational Training Approved by the Department of Education and is listed on our demand of occupations for Gila/Pinal Counties. All students are required to complete financial aide applications through www.fafsa.ed.gov/ and provide verification of approval or denial.www.fafsa.ed.gov/ Work Experience Training– 300 hours of paid employment training through local employers (limited participants) On-The-Job-Training – Employment training contracted with an employer with 50% of wages paid and guarantee full-time employment after completion of training.

8 Keep in close contact with your case manager and report any changes, such as : change of address, phone #, or employment status. You must schedule appointments to see your case manager. If you have had no contact with your case manager for 30 days or more, you will be removed from the program. For training/school you are required to turn in attendance forms signed by your instructor on a weekly basis. For job search you must provide your case manager with weekly job search forms. You need to provide a progress report, along with financial aide status, and class schedule/registration. Client assistance with funds is limited to for the first 60 days of enrollment into the program.

9 The staff may assist you with: * Job search activities * Preparing Resumes & Cover Letters * Interviewing preparations * Job referrals

10 Job Clubs & Meetings are mandatory for you to attend. *Guest Speakers/Employers *Community Resources *Job Information *Career Building Activities *Incentives
