There are certain characteristics that make the panda a mammal. A panda is warm -blooded. They breathe using their lungs. The panda’s skin is covered in fur. The panda bear reproduces babies by having babies that are born alive.

Appearance. A panda has black and white fur that helps them to hide in the shadows of snowy forests. Their thick oily fur helps them keep them warm and dry in cold weather. Their toes point in toward each other as they walk. They have short legs that are very strong. Their teeth are very strong so they can chew through bamboo.

Appearance. Giant pandas give birth to one cub at a time. Panda babies are born with their eyes closed and don’t have hair. Later on, their fur grows black and white just like their parents. The mom feeds them milk from her body. Soon the cub’s starts to grow. It opens its eyes and it begins to crawl.

A Panda’s Paws. A panda has unusual paws, but they are perfect for holding bamboo and other plants. Pandas eat using its front paws. A panda has an extra digit known as “the panda’s thumb. It is not like a human thumb. A panda uses its false thumb the same way people use their thumbs.

Diet. The panda eats sitting down. The panda grabs a bamboo stalk, pulls it down, and takes a bite. It helps the panda get a good grip using his fingers and thumb.

More interesting facts about their paws. Pandas love to climb with their special paws and their claws. They can climb up trees when there are dangerous animals around. Pandas sometimes sleep up in trees. They sleep to four hours at a time.

Protecting Panda Babies. The pandas hide from predators. A predator is an enemy. Pandas hide in the snow. They hide from tigers because tigers attack pandas. If its mother is not nearby, a panda cub is most likely to be hunted. Most giant pandas are not hunted. It is hard for the predators to catch the baby panda when it’s with it’s mom. The mama panda protects it’s cub from predators. The mama panda keeps the enemy’s away from the baby cubs.

Interesting facts about pandas! Pandas are nocturnal! That means they sleep mostly during the day and are awake at night. Pandas don’t live in groups! Giant pandas are 4- 5 feet! They can use their good sense of smell to find other pandas!

More interesting facts about pandas! Male and female pandas mate only a few days during the year. After a week the baby panda begins to get its black and white fur. The pandas black and white fur blends in with the shadows. Giant pandas live mostly in China.

More facts that are interesting. The pupil gives the panda a good up-and-down vision! Pandas can see well in the dark! Pandas talk to each other by rubbing their back side on a tree so other pandas can smell it!
