A devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on Saturday 25 th April causing widespread damage.

The homes of 2.8 million people have been destroyed or damaged.

Families are sleeping in makeshift tents, afraid of returning home. Monsoon rains are approaching.

Shelter is a priority.

The Habitat response also includes: Mobilising engineers to carry out house-by- house damage assessments, as many families fear staying in their homes. In the long-term, we will support families to rebuild their homes and lives.

Habitat has worked in Nepal for 18 years Operates in 35 of Nepal’s 75 Districts Supported 54,000 families to improve their living conditions

Prayer Points Pray for all the earthquake victims; those who are injured, have lost family, their home and livelihoods Pray that relief will reach communities speedily Pray for God’s love to comfort and heal those whose lives have been torn apart Give thanks for miracles, people rescued after days. Give thanks for the small kindnesses which make a huge difference when everything is lost

Prayer Points Pray that all those involved in the response effort, the government, the UN and many NGOs can effectively work together and get the support needed. Pray that even now people will be thinking about the long-term impacts Pray for Habitat staff as they work in incredibly challenging conditions to bring life saving shelter to families in desperate need Pray for the individuals who have left the safety of their own homes to help people in need – medically, emotionally and practically

O Lord, cover us with Your spirit that we may bring hope to the downtrodden, that we may be eager to heal the brokenhearted. Amen.
