13 There are a couple of reasons why I decided to go with the Verizon Center. I live 27 minutes away from this facility and never took the time to appreciate the access I have. I have been going to concerts there since it was the MCI center. In addition to that it amazes me to see how far along the area itself has developed. At one point it was considered dangerous to even go on that street. Right where the Verizon Center sits was my old hang out spot when I was growing up. Even then I never took the time to pay attention to its influence. Lastly, recently I was given a chance to meet with Ted Leonsis and his son. From this meeting I was able to gain insight in what is the “now” in the sports industry, how to score my dream job, and even mentorship from a close friend of Ted’s. The business is merely ran on people with a great vision and helping hearts.
