3 3 Powered Gas and Brake Control System SAE J2603 & J2604 Evaluation continued “The reaction time between the PGB handle and the brake pedal was measured at Texas A&M, Texas Transportation Institute (TTI).” “A full step, ½ step, full ramp and ½ ramp functions were applied with the response measured. The response times range from 0.037 to 0.049 seconds, all within the recommended 0.1 seconds” “A 4 Hour vibration test (30 Hz, ± 1.27 mm) was set up and conducted on the lathe (1800 rpm). 6 6 Powered Steering Backup System SAE J2672 Evaluation The first reduced effort steering backup systems to be tested against the SAE J2672 recommended test procedures “The Installation of the backup steering system does not compromise any crash worthiness of vehicle.” “The backup steering system components meet SAE standards.” “An electronic tester was fabricated by IDS to cycle the backup steering system electronics. 2500 cycles were conducted without failure of the backup system electrical which satisfies the SAE test requirements.” “The IDS backup steering system met the SAE technical requirements and did not introduce any new ‘single point failure forces’ (A.3.2).” Ingenium Engineering Services, December 17, 2009
