2. Definition From the Greek word hermeneuo “To explain” or “To translate” It is used in Jn 1:38, 42; 9:7 & Heb. 7:2 Hermeneutics can refer to any kind of interpretation. Biblical hermeneutics is the science of interpreting the Scripture

Misunderstanding Scripture There are at least 9 major causes of misinterpretation of Scripture A failure to recognize the communication gaps existing between the modern reader and the people of the Bible A failure to distinguish between the dispensations A failure to recognize different covenants
