6 OME Educational Research ‘Seed’ Grants  Purpose: To stimulate educational research at UCSF. Jump start their educational research.  Research Priority Areas:  Curriculum development outcomes  Effects of teaching and curriculum on patient care  Innovative Assessment approaches  Portfolios/Reflection  Professionalism  Workplace learning  Amount: intended to cover research assistant time, materials, incentives, software. 7 WGEA Mini-Grant  Purpose: to promote medical education research within the Western region.  Frequency: Annual (Deadline is June 1)  Amount: $5000 for new study, $1000 to for finishing projects  Eligibility: Faculty members within WGEA member school

8 Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation  Types of Grants:  Faculty Scholars Program  Board Grants  Discretionary President’s Grants  5 Priority Areas  Interprofessional Education and Teamwork  New Curriculum Content  New Models for Clinical Education  Career Development in Health Professions Education  Education for the Care of Underserved Populations

9 Macy Faculty Scholars Program  Purpose: to identify and nurture the careers of educational innovators in medicine and nursing  Frequency: Annual (up to 5 faculty leaders per year)  Amount: $100,000 salary support  Project Period: 2 yrs  Eligibility: Institutional commitment to protect at least 50% time for educational reform projects; nomination by Dean; 5 yrs on faculty  http://www.macyfoundation.org/macy-scholars

10 Macy Foundation – Board Grants  Purpose: to support projects that are relevant to priority areas, important, original, significant, generalizable, and sustainable  Frequency: Selected 3 times per year  Amount: unspecified (budgeted submitted with LOI)  Project Period: 1-3 years  Process: Submit letter of inquiry, receive a reply w/in 2 months asking for more information, submission of full proposal OR declining support  http://macyfoundation.org/apply/board-grants

13 Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA)  Purpose: to support organizations to improve and expand health care services for underserved people, focusing on specific program areas (i.e. Health Professions, Primary Health Care / Health Centers, Healthcare Systems, Organ Donation)  Frequency: Variable (over 2,000 per yr)  Amount: Variable (awarded to organizations)  Project Period: Variable  http://www.hrsa.gov/grants/index.html
