Assistive Technology: Math
2
Electronic Math Worksheets Electronic math worksheets are software programs that can help a user organize, align, and work through math problems on a computer screen. Problems can be read aloud via a speech synthesizer. This may be helpful to people who have trouble aligning math problems with pencil and paper. Examples: MathTalk, Math Pad www.greatschools.org/special-education/assistive-technology/

Computer Programs Wild West Math: Develop and refine fundamental math skills. (Grades 2-6) Math Heads: Develop pre-algebra skills; word problems Astro Algebra: Familiarity with whole and rational numbers, decimal, fractions, ratios, proportions, and percent. Cosmic Geometry: Virtual Manipulatives help students make the connection between concrete and abstract concepts.
4
Talking Calculators A talking calculator has a built-in speech synthesizer that reads aloud each number, symbol, or operation key a user presses; it also vocalizes the answer to the problem. This auditory feedback may help him/her check the accuracy of the keys he presses and verify the answer before he/she transfers it to paper. Available on multiple sits online in several different styles. www.greatschools.org/special-education/assistive-technology/

Talking Tape Measure A talking tape measure announces the measured length. A tool like this can be use to help students with learning measurements.
