Rules for Selecting Data Choose data that tells your story. –What’s been your focus in the past year? Make sure everyone understands your data. –Choose straightforward data. –Present your data clearly. Choose data that illustrates a clear link between your work and your results.

What Are Process Data? They Describe the way programs are conducted. Provide evidence of participant involvement in programs. Answer the question, “What did you do for whom?” May not show the degree of impact upon students found in results data. Are acceptable for school climate and safety section.

Common Process Data Sources Student Participation in School Activities (Sports, Clubs, Arts, ASB, etc…) Student Participation in Special Programs (Peer Mediation, At Risk Counseling, Skills Conferences, etc…) Parent/Student Participation in Events (College Information Meetings, Parent Workshops, etc…)

What Are Perception Data? They Describe people’s knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, perceptions, competencies, etc… Answer the Question, “What do people think they know, believe, or can do?” Acceptable for the School Climate and Safety Section

Common Perception Data Sources Student Perceptions about School Climate issues (Healthy Kids Survey, violence, prejudice, bullying, etc…) Student/Parent Perceptions about the effectiveness of programs or interventions Student understanding of relationship of school to career or has an academic plan. Student recognizes signs of violence or prejudice.
