2. I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer.

3.  Adoration – lifting praise and honor to God  Confession – of our need for God and our need for His forgiveness  Supplication – prayer for self and personal needs  Today we will examine PETITION  Asking of God in behalf of self or others

4.  Esther 5:6-8 -- …the king again asked Esther, "Now what is your petition… And what is your request? …Esther replied, "My petition and my request is this…”

5.  Jeremiah 7:16 -- "So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you.

6.  Daniel 9:3 --So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

7.  Philippians 4:6 - - Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

8.  But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you….

11.  Acts 12:5 -- So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.

12.  Matthew 9:37-38 -- Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

13. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 -- I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

14.  Ephesians 6:18 -- And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

15.  Colossians 4:3 -- And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.
