K-W-L What I learned: The common dolphin is generally found around the Mediterranean sea Dolphins are among the fastest swimming mammals They can reach speeds of over 40 km/hr

Adaptations Dolphins have a blowhole that lets them take in air at the surface. This blowhole is covered by a flap that provides a watertight seal. Dolphins have keen eyesight with good vision above and below the water. Dolphins have an adaptation that gives them two stomachs. One stomach stores food and the other digests.

Natural Habitat The common dolphin is generally found around the Mediterranean Sea, but are also commonly seen in deep off-shore waters.

Food Sources Dolphins are carnivores and eat a variety of small fish, squid and shrimp.
