Establishing a Spatial Capability for WA Ensuring all EM operational staff have access to the “Same Information at Same Time (SIST)” Common spatial capability Ensuring authoritative, accredited and consistent information used for EM activities Broaden awareness of available spatial information resources and use within EM specific operations Provide spatial information services that support operational systems and existing emergency management procedures (WESTPLANS)

In planning or responding to an event… A composite situation map can be built up using… Base topographic maps from Dept Land Information Vegetation information from CALM and Agriculture Hotspots and fire fronts from the field operations Wind barbs and Wind direction change front from BOM These data sets can be combined to produce a fire prediction model… And smoke plume prediction model So that all agencies and personnel have a common view of situation To enable more effective planning and coordination of operations

The Utilities can view the current conditions Retrieve the smoke plume information And add the utilities network to look for interaction and response requirements

SLIP-EM : Initial Focus Areas 1.HAZMAT (FESA) – hazardous material emergencies - Special Risk Sites 2. Bushfire Management (DEC/FESA/Local Government) – prescribed burn planning and fire suppression 3. Search and Rescue (WA Police) – marine and land 4. Public Information – coordinated map information for public communications
