3 Three main magazine sectors  Consumer magazines: E.g Cosmopolitan, GQ, Take a Break, Mainly bought in newsagents or sent through post as subscriptions. Mainly paid-for. Some given away free.  Business to Business magazines: E.g Computer Weekly, Building Design, Farmer’s Weekly, Mainly sent through post as subscriptions. Mixture of free and free ‘controlled circulation’.  Customer magazines: E.g Asda Magazine, AA magazine, High Life Either distributed at sales tills, or sent through post to club members. Mainly free. Some paid-for.

4 One smaller magazine sector  Newspaper magazines: distributed as part of newspaper package, usually in weekend editions.

5 Consumer magazine data  More than 2,500 magazine titles sold in the UK today  But that’s down from peak of 3,445 in 2006  296 million ABC-audited magazine copies sold in UK in 2013  Audited UK magazines newstrade worth £396.1m in 2013  59 million magazine copies sold as subscriptions
