1. OH&S slideshow for the VET Music term 1 concert. Gus Campbell

2. The following photos… Were taken prior the VET term 1 performance. They are to label occupational hazards and show how the stage and other parts of the concert were handled by the techs and performers. Each photo will have a short description on it.

3. Pre-concert No mics were set up at this point. It was positioning the instruments and stage first.

4. Main right speaker There was a P.A. system set up through an electronic mixer. The feed from all the microphones and speakers would eventually come out of this speaker.

5. Max Max was a safety hazard to entire performance due to his inability to pay attention. He was removed immediately.

6. Setting up the piano and vocal mike The piano had to be moved so the audience were able to see the player on said piano.

7. Mr Marsland with the snake cable The snake cable was a large cable that had 8 leads in it connected together. Think of a can of sardines, except the sardines are in a tube and they are mike leads. Mr Marsland was not a OH&S hazard, as he knew what he was doing.

8. Putting the snake cable into the PA mixer Each cable went into it’s respectful tie line to correlate to it’s microphone. The feed from those mics eventually came through the mixer, where the levels of the mic could be altered.

10. Putting a SM57 to the cone of a guitar amp S-57 is a dynamic microphone, thus is good at picking up sound and relaying it clearly. It was placed at the cone of the amp as the cone is where the source of most of the sound comes from. Thus, placing it there gives us the most sound achievable.

11. Connecting the mike leads to the tie lines Putting the leads into the mic send is literally able to “send” the signal of what the mic is receiving to another mic send, thus, that can be connected to the P.A. and mixer for better sound.

12. Final setup Final shot of the whole set-up. The chairs set-up was deemed “awkward” so it was later changed to a horseshoe shape around the stage.

13. Final guitar setup These guys knew what they were doing so I didn’t intrude.

14. Piano setup My POV of where I would be performing and sitting. A SM58 microphone was used for the vocals on this piano.
