Learning Objective 1.0 : Participant will obtain a thorough understanding and knowledge of the statutory laws related to the use of force. The student will be able to demonstrate on a written objective type examination an understanding of this area to a specified percentage.

7. 1.O STATUTORY AUTHORITY FOR USE OF FORCE

8. 1.0 Penal Code Chapter 9 (Excluding Subchapter F)
Chapter 9 of the Texas Penal Code deals with the laws regarding the use of deadly force, or justification excluding criminal responsibility. Justifications for the use of deadly force include self-defense, defense of a third person and defense of property.
