Why Capture Video or Audio? To convert old VHS videos to DVDs. To capture and store your favorite video clips from TV. To edit your own videos.

What Is Capturing Audio/Video? Capturing is the process of transferring video from a source to a computer. Essential in order to use audio/video clips on your computer for editing and/or storing on digital media (DVD or CD).

Things To Consider Video files take up large amounts of disk space. You will need lots of disk space. ▫1hr of uncompressed video = 13 -14 GB approx. ▫1 minute of video = 230 MB approx. ▫changing the quality of the video captured and using compression can reduce the file size significantly. You can connect a DV camera or DV source directly to your computer via FireWire or USB and not need a video capture device. A/V editing software takes time to learn and use. ▫some software are made for novice users.
