Meet the Inventor
4
Objective: In this assignment, you will create a Power Point presentation that represents you and your invention. You are selling yourself to investors (your classmates). You will include information about your background (as an inventor) and your interests, as well as why you chose to invent this product and why it is important.
5
Your job will be to convince the class that you are an expert in the field in which you have invented a product and that your invention is the next best thing in technology.
6
You are still in the conceptual stage. Your invention doesn’t have to be a finished product (could be an idea and developed sketches).
8
This being your second Power Point presentation in this class, you will be evaluated on your preparedness to present effectively, as well the overall look, feel, and flow or the information you’ve presented.
9
You may choose to partner up with a student or go solo.
10
Project Requirements: The first step is to do a little research and figure out how you want to present yourself as the inventor (It can be made up to make yourself look more credible) Then, brainstorm ideas on what you’d like to invent (What would make your life easier?) Develop a plan/outline that helps organize your project Prepare to discuss why this invention is so important Think about production costs and pricing for the product (what’s your mark up? Do some research on similar products) Make an Excel chart that supports your presentation (Ex. Projected sales)
11
Project Requirements: Do you have competition? (How is yours better?) Needs to be a PRACTICAL INVENTION (Not something impossible or way too much money for the consumer) Consider what makes it great (How would we be able to function without it?) Create a Power Point presentation that includes your background information as an inventor and your invention. Your presentation should attempt to persuade the viewers to consider that your invention is worth investing time and money into.
12
Start with the decision to have a partner or not Begin brainstorming ideas The project is research bound so make sure to cite your resources in your plan (and PowerPoint when applies) You are going to market a product you create from beginning to end… it’s up to you to make it interesting and well thought out.
