A chimp poses for a photo at the Antwerp Zoo in Belgium. The zoo has asked visitors to refrain from looking into the eyes of its chimps and other apes. According to the zoo, eye contact with humans can result in chimpanzees shunning other members of their group.

This rare Northern spider tortoise was hatched at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in March. The zoo was the first in North America to successfully breed this subspecies under artificial light.

Ducklings are displayed for sale at a poultry market in Yingtan, China.

The horse Preemptive Strike goes down after clearing a jump during the Royal Chase for the Sport of Kings race at Keeneland in Lexington, Ky.

A cow takes a walk at sunset in a pasture near Strong City, Kan. The red sky was caused from smoke as ranchers in the Flint Hills region of Kansas performed their spring ritual of burning pastures to aid the growth of prairie grasses.

A swan swims in the polluted waters of Pudding Mill River in London, England.

A dog struts in its raincoat while walking past Astor Place in New York City.

Fiordland crested penguin Mr. Munro jumps over rocks after his introduction to two females in their enclosure at Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia. Mr. Munro arrived at the zoo in November 2006 after surviving being washed up on a remote beach following a 1,243 mile swim. The two female penguins, Chalky and Milford, have resided at the zoo for more than a decade without a male to fertilize their eggs.

Brown bear Mia walks with her cubs Molly, Mette and Maja through their enclosure at Wildpark Poing near Munich, Germany. Mia gave birth to triplet cubs on Dec. 28, 2006, in Sweden, and arrived in Poing in March.

Polar bear cub Knut plays with his keeper at Zoo Berlin in Germany.

Hercule, a 4-day-old ring-tailed lemur, is handfed some milk at the Jurques zoological park in western France. Hercule was rejected by its mother.

A 6-month-old male husky named Keano had his head trapped in a brick wall in a garden in Whitchurch, England. The husky had to be saved by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service after a neighbor alerted the dog's owner.

A tiny Mauritius fody -- a critically endangered bird -- is benefitting from the protection and supplementary feedings of conservationists on Ile aux Aigrettes, a small, wooded island about half a mile from the Mauritian mainland's southern coast.

Barney, President Bush's dog, drinks water in the White House garden.
