The ECA Rugby Program started in the 2007 – 2008 School year Initial Plan: Create an inexpensive and sustainable physical athletic program for both sexes at L.R.H.S. Creating: 1.Internal, personal self-motivated success. 2.Success to motivate towards graduation or a Post Secondary opportunity. 3.Increase School Spirit.

The four goals are centered on success, achievement and growth… “provide a great variety of learning opportunities through special concentration programs for students, innovative teaching approaches, proactive training…” “provide students and employees with a safe and healthy environment in which to develop their potential…” “…deals with the component of motivation. If one is involved in their own learning and actively participates, a sense of ownership and pride will undoubtedly develop. Rugby Concentration Course Initial Success Plan: Have measureable objectives…(MELS 13 point plan) Keep track of individual student’s grades and behaviours VIA: GPS, ISM, SSC. (All are computer based programs) Establish Physical Fitness Standards and Improvement goals. Immediate reward when goal’s attained…Success Badges. “Class Ownership”. Class Dress Code. Navy Rugby Shorts, and 2 Grey Tees with logo. Consequences decided together. Purchase and print at LRHS. Total cost per student $40. 00 Two Class retreats to Arundel Nature Center for team building and isolated physical training. Fall and Spring PED. days. To participate, goals/behaviour must be satisfactory.

What will the consequences be if they are not met? What is our current Graduation Rate with past students in the ECA program? As of Dec. 2011, We have a graduation rate of: 76 % for Boys, 88 % for Girls, 70 % For those that completed at Adult Education. Quebec Average - 77 % Combined (Boys < 60 %) WE NEED TO TARGET EARLY TO GET STUDENTS ON BOARD!

MAIN FOCUS FOR 2011– 2013 School Years Build up Plans for 2011: *All coaches receive Coaching Certification. *Commit to the upcoming Laurentians High School Rugby League starting in 2011. *Purchase Wrestling Mats, Scrum Machine, and Plyometric Training Equipment for Program in 2011. *Offer a Flag rugby clinic to all feeder elementary schools P.E. teachers interested.*Offer a Flag rugby clinic to all feeder elementary schools P.E. teachers interested. * Establish a support team interested in offering ECA endorsed academic support. (Core subjects: Eng. Fr. Math. Sci. Hist.) *Have / go to RUGBY QUEBEC clinics at LRHS, and Concordia.Have / go to RUGBY QUEBEC clinics at LRHS, and Concordia. *Maintain development of Teams and Tourney. *Cement further connections to Rugby Friendly schools.

2011 – 2012 Discussion Issues Student Community Volunteer / Service Credits - Aid in community’s “ownership”. Community Volunteers. (L.T.M. example) Sponsorship Programs: Create a Foundation. - Community Leaders Visible in Schools. Scholarships / Bursaries: - LRHS, C.I.S. (universities), Post Secondary. Weight Room “RENO”.
