FIELD POSITION

 Two types of players  Forwards = defensive players  Backs = offensive players  Scoring  Points can be scored by touching the ball in the “try zone” or by kicking  Tries are worth 5 points, kicks are worth two  The intro to this video game provides a bit more detail!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODVdObtcVGY&fe ature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODVdObtcVGY&fe ature=youtu.be BASICS

 A lineout occurs when a ball is kicked out or a player with the ball is forced out of bounds.  Players form pods and lifts to try and win possession of the ball. LINEOUTS

 A scrum is formed when there is a penalty.  Each team creates two rows of players that bind up, head-to- head.  The ball is rolled into the scrum, and both teams use their strength to try and gain possession of the ball. SCRUMS

 Rucks occur after a player is tackled.  If the player secured the ball on the way down, the two teams will form a bridge over the tackled player and the ball.  The objective is to push the other team back from the ball in order to maintain/gain possession. RUCKS

 Kickoffs occur at the beginning of each match and after a try is scored.  The receiving team wants to gain possession quickly in order to advance on the field.  The ball can only be passed backward.  This results in the formation of flat line passing. KICKOFFS & RUNNING THE BALL
