Does Music affect brain development in a positive way? By: James LeBouef
2
Create a test as an experiment I created a test for two groups to take; One would take the test with music, the other without. I chose this option because I like the idea of comparing test groups and experimenting
3
Steps Find Mentor Discuss ideas with mentor Contact Organizations about IQ or Brain tests. Create a test based on logic
4
Steps Find participants to take the test Plan a date to give the test Give out test to participants Grade and type up data
5
The Test This test used definitely challenged all of my participants All participants did very well even though the test dealt with tough logic questions
6
Example Question My participants had to answer questions that were similar to this -Sally likes 225 but not 224; she likes 900 but not 800; she likes 144 but not 145. Which does she like - 1600 or 1700? A.1600 B. 1700
7
What I learned I learned much about time management and patience After my product was complete, I analyzed the data and determined that the group with music did better by an average of.875 points better or 3.35% better
8
My Mentor My mentor is Alan Martin He helped me brainstorm and plan my product
9
Issues I had many issues to overcome, mostly with aligning the schedules of my participants. My other big issue was how late it took for me to set up and give out the test. Finding a mentor
10
Successes Having my data line up with my research Being able to schedule a test date that was in sync with everyone Being able to find and create a test without having to pay for everyone to take an IQ test
11
Self-Reflection I definitely figured out how lazy I could be with putting off my product I learned that I always have to be patient whenever it comes to others If I could change anything, it would be the date I acquired my mentor
12
Thank you! Are there any questions?
