The Me and My School survey The first and largest section is entitled Me and My School and is concerned with a global measure of student engagement. Student engagement refers to the level of connection and commitment students have to school and learning: uses behavioural, affective and cognitive aspects: Behavioural engagement refers to participation in school and learning Affective engagement is concerned with students’ emotional responses Cognitive engagement refers to students’ commitment to, and involvement in learning The second section, Reading and Me provides a snapshot of students’ engagement in reading The last section, More about Me is concerned with a range of environmental variables that may affect students’ reported engagement levels The first and largest section is entitled Me and My School and is concerned with a global measure of student engagement. THE PROFILE We Used a sample - 65 students randomly selected across the spectrum of year 9 and 10 classes. The following numbers of students from our school were involved in the survey: Girls: 28 Boys: 31 Year 9: 30 Year 10: 29 NZ European: 38 Maori: 7 Pacific: 13 Asian: 4 Other: 3 We Used a sample - 65 students randomly selected across the spectrum of year 9 and 10 classes.
