G ENERAL I NFORMATION The bee hummingbird is a bird. Mellisuga Helenae is its scientific name. It’s lifespan is unknown.

P HYSICAL C HARACTERISTICS Male bee hummingbirds are green with a fiery red throat while the female hummingbirds are bluish green with a gray underside. It weighs 0.07 ounces and it is 2.4 inches long. They are covered in feathers. One unique body part is the bill. It’s used for reaching deep into flowers for nectar.

H ABITAT The bee hummingbird lives in Cuba. It mostly lives in parks, gardens or woodland wherever it finds nectar. It also might live in dry tropical forests. It is mostly dry and hot in the forests.

B EHAVIORS The bee hummingbird eats nectar and small insects. It gets nectar by reaching its beak in the flower, and it gets insects by catching it from its beak. This animal lays eggs and gives birth to live young The bee hummingbird can have only 2 babies.

I NTERESTING F ACTS The bee hummingbird is the smallest living bird The nest is less than one inch The eggs are 0.3 inches long and only weighs 0.009 ounces.
