 Lord of the flies is a scene of a deserted peaceful island until new comers come from a plane crash which they assign groups and leaders to control the “Conch” for Organization. On this island, chaos takes place.

Loss of Innocence  As the boys learned discipline on the island, they naturally loss the sense of innocence that they possessed at the beginning of the novel. The “savages” in Chapter 12 who have hunted, tortured, and killed animals and human beings are a far cry from the innocent children swimming in the lagoon in Chapter 3. they’ve possessed this innocence all along. There view of things began to change toward the end of the book.

 Ralph - The protagonist, who is elected leader of the group of boys marooned on the island. Ralph attempts to coordinate the boys’ efforts to build a miniature civilization on the island until they can be rescued.  Jack - The antagonist, Jack becomes the leader of the hunters but longs for total power and becomes increasingly wild, barbaric, and cruel as the novel progresses  Simon - A shy, sensitive boy in the group. Simon, in some ways the only naturally “good” character on the island, behaves kindly toward the younger boys and is willing to work for the good of their community. His motivation is rooted in his deep feeling of connectedness to nature which makes Si  mon the only character whose sense of morality does not seem to have been imposed by society.

 Piggy – The most intelligent character who is often over looked for his ideas and doesn’t get as much respect as ralph  Simon – He represents the goodness of people. He also has a comparison so Jesus. He is the spiritual character

 The Conch – A Shell to Symbolize society and order  The Pig Head on the stick – Represents evilness of the island  Piggy’s Glasses – Represents Hope & Fire

 Ralph, the leader is responsible for keeping the group together so that they can survive. Jack and his crew are rebellious against ralph and began to separate. Jack Decides to go his separate ways, which symbolizes remnants of society. Significantly, the separation of danger creates danger.

 The beginning of Lord of the flies is significant because the plane crashing was excruciating in the sense that it was touched by humans and peaceful. Once the boys crashed to the island the plane left a scar. Eventually in the end the boys sparked fire to the island which leads to destruction.

 Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man’s heart, and the fall through the air of a true, wise friend called Piggy. These lines from the end of Chapter 12 occur near the close of the novel, after the boys encounter with the officer, who appears to save them. When Ralph sees the officer, he realizes that he is safe and will be returned to civilization plunges him into a reflective despair.  “What I mean is... maybe it’s only us” Simon speaks these words in Chapter 5, during the meeting in which the boys consider the question of the beast
