ALTAIR ® 4X Multigas Detector It’s what’s inside that counts!
2
Our Vision of Safety Built on Durability – Based on tough Altair 4 Multigas Detector Powered by Performance – New High Performance XCell ™ Sensors
3
XCell Technology Typical life >= 4 Years – 60% longer sensor life than the industry average – Standard 3 year warranty XCell-erated response time, clear time, bump test – 38% faster response time than the industry average – Typical <= 15 seconds Typical cost of ownership savings > 50% – Longer sensor life and fast response – 50% less calibration gas used per minute than industry average Embedded microelectronics elevate performance – Each sensor has a microprocessor and digital output
4
Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) Industry 1 st ! Every XCell Sensor has an embedded ASIC! – Microprocessor, memory, and all circuitry to drive the sensor – Digital output Way beyond a “Smart Sensor” – Competitor’s “Smart Sensors” have a passive memory chip to store gas type, serial number, initial sensor settings, etc…. – The MSA ASIC drives the sensor, actively compensates the output, and coverts it into a digital signal. Benefit – Higher performing sensors with greater stability
5
XCell O2 Sensor Life Most Other O2 Sensors (Typical Life <= 2 years) – Use a consumable chemical reaction – Filled with lead which is converted to lead oxide – Sensor dies as lead is depleted (limited shelf life) XCell O2 Sensor (Typical Life >= 4 years) – Non-consuming chemical reaction (No lead) – O2 reduced to water and then oxidized back to O2 – Vastly increased shelf life
6
XCell Ex Sensor Life Most Other LEL Sensors (Typical Life = 2 years) – End of life caused by slow poisoning Poisoned by silicon, sulphur, or lead containing compounds – End of life can also result from a large physical shock XCell Ex Sensor (Typical Life = 4 years) – Two detectors double the active life of the sensor – Only one detector is catalytically active at a time – Metal alloy support rod added to increase durability
7
XCell CO/H2S Sensor Life Most Other CO/H2S Sensors (Life = 2-3 years) – Chemical poisoning of the electrode material – Loss of sensitivity due to electrolyte drying out XCell CO/H2S Sensor (Typical Life >= 4 years) – Increased active sites on electrodes Increase sensitivity Reduce the effects of poisoning – Robust carbon filter to protect the CO electrode – Expansion electrolyte well minimizes drying effect
8
Response Times Significantly Faster Than the Competition! Span Calibration: 60 sec Bump Test: < 15 sec Combustible sensor t90 <10 seconds (Methane) t90 <15 seconds (Pentane) Oxygen sensor t90 < 10 seconds CO sensor t90 < 15 seconds H2S sensor t90 < 15 seconds
