PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE 2 To facilitate, promote, monitor and coordinate the mainstreaming of Children’s Rights considerations into Government’s policies and governance processes through the development and promotion of the National Plan of Action for Children and annual advocacy campaigns in partnership with government and other stakeholders. To coordinate and facilitate an integrated approach to the promotion of capacity building and institutional support to enable key stakeholders in the sector to participate and contribute more efficiently and effectively in mainstreaming and monitoring of children’s rights at all levels of government and civil society. To monitor, evaluate and report on the realization of children’s rights in line with the Constitution, national, continental and international obligations 8/10/2015

One of the resolutions was that the DWCPD should go-ahead to develop the SDC National Implementation Strategy The development of the SDC National Strategy is currently underway, and will be consulted with the National Departments at the end of February 2013, before submission for approval processes 8/10/2015

About 500 children took part in the activities of the day. The department in partnership with UNFPA supported by other depts, saps, Dsd, DOJ celebrated the international day of the girl child 8/10/2015

In order to strengthen the M&E Strategy a training was conducted by UNICEF on Devinfo systems that will be used to enhance knowledge and skills on M& E database systems. Officials from DWCPD and StataSA attended the training 8/10/2015

The development of ECD indicators have been included in the implementation plan. ECD indicators are included in the national set of child rights and wellbeing indicator matrix.. 8/10/2015

In addition: UNCRC /ACRWC report was presented to the DG Clusters and to Cabinet. The report was approved and released to Parliament and the public for comments. Consultations on the Optional Protocol on the Sale of Children Child Prostitution and Child Pornography conducted with departments. Dialogue on Child Online Protection in partnership with Department of Communication and Films and Publication Board on 06 December 2012 conducted including Optional Protocol. 8/10/2015

Partnered with Eersterust community on 365 Days Campaign on No Violence Against Women and Children: The Programme included 500 children and community members The development of M&E indicators on violence is part of the DIFID GBV project proposal and will commence in 2013. Final launch of the study and incorporation into DIFID GBV Plan will be done in 2013 8/10/2015

MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS 16 About 500 Children participated in the opening and closing ceremonies of 16 Days Campaign on No Violence Against Women and Children. The participation of Children’s Rights Unit at the 1 st Gauteng Annual Girl/Boy Education Movement Conference, on 05 December 2012 – Children reported emerging issues on violation of their rights, which were taken up for follow-up by CRR The Children’s Rights Unit attended a workshop on 13 December 2012 hosted by the Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Board, to provide guidance on the mainstreaming and advocacy of, including budgeting for children’s rights issues when regulating activities in the economic development in the Province

Dialogue session where Minister engage with children of Eersterus on 365 Days Campaign on No Violence Against Women and Children: Programme on keeping children safe during the Festive Season. Programme was in partnership with the Concerned Parents’ Association in Eersterust, Pretoria Partnered with DOC and FPB to host the dialogue on Online Child protection and the Optional protocol on the sale, prostitution and pornography of children (6 December) Co-hosted the high level consultation on the Study on Violence against children ( 7 December) 8/10/201517 MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS

8/10/201519 MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS KPIQ3 Target Achieved Progress Information Number of Social Campaigns coordinated 2 Social Campaigns Concept Documents and Campaign Plan for Universal Access to Education and Child and Maternal Mortality Reduction finalised The DWCPD partnered with DBE to launch the Universal Access to Education for All Children Campaign on 23 October 2012, at Baxoxele Full Service School CRR wrote a Memo to the Acting DG’s office requesting approval to support the first three Provinces that will implement the “Access to Education to All children” Campaign during the last term of the Financial Year 2012/2012. Letters were prepared, pending the approval of the Memo, to the Heads of Department s in the Provincial Departments of Basic Education, to lobby for the above-mentioned partnership. Child participation and self advocacy strengthened National children’s Day Commemorated / celebrated / coordinated The Celebration of the National Children’s Day was successfully hosted on the 3 rd November 2012, in partnership with Limpopo Premier’s Office, Provincial Government Departments and the Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality The Celebration of the 2013 National Children’s Day will be coordinated in collaboration with the Free State Province. Preparations will be done when the time is right. Comprehensive children’s rights M+E Strategy developed M&E strategy consulted at National, Provincial and Local level Conducted meeting with the Departments of Social Development, Justice and Constitutional Development, SAPS, National Prosecuting Authority,Home Affairs, to consult on the strategy and validate indicators on children
