2-2 & 2-3 Solving Inequalities using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
2
Adding & Subtracting to Solve Solve the same way you would normally solve for a variable in an equation. Examples: Write, Graph & Solve x+12 < 20 d-5 > -7 0.9 ≥ x-0.3
3
Adding & Subtracting to Solve 0 Sami has a gift card. She used $14 of the total value, which was $30. Write, solve & graph an inequality to show how much more she can spend.
4
What If…..? TRUE or FALSE 8 > 4 8 (-2) > 4(-2) -16 > -8 TRUE or FLASE?
5
Multiplying/ Dividing by Negatives
6
Multiplying/Dividing We ONLY flip the sign if we are multiplying or dividing by a negative. We DO NOT need to flip the sign if we are not multiplying/dividing by a negative.
7
Examples 1. 7x > -42 2. -12x > 84 3. ¾r < 12 4. -8 ≤ x/-3
