2 2  Who will be the scorekeeper?  Each group must have a captain to bring its paper to the teacher with its answers. If the group is wrong, the captain returns to the group and tries again: 1 st - 3 shots 2 nd – 2 shots 3 rd – 1 Shot  Points for each shot: Farthest line – 5 Middle line – 3 Closest – 1  The team with the most points at the end of the game wins!

3 Directions: 1. Number your group’s paper from 1-5. 2. Identify and write the nouns in each sentence. Example: Halloween is celebrated once a year in October. Answer: Halloween, year, October

4 1. The holiday used to be called All Hallows Eve. 2. Halloween symbols include pumpkins, ghosts, and witches. 3. Originally the celebration began as a harvest festival. 4. The Celtic culture is credited with the first Halloween holiday. 5. Trick-or-treating is an activity for children in which they get candy.

5 Directions: 1. Number your group’s paper from 6 - 10. 2. Identify and write the verbs or verb phrases in each sentence. Example: Children disguise themselves in costumes for the night. Answer: disguise

6 6. Some schools have Halloween parades. 7. Children should be accompanied by an adult for their safety at night. 8. Grown ups may attend Halloween parties. 9. Once kids become teenagers, they are expected to stop trick-or-treating. 10. The Unicef organization encourages people to collect donations on Halloween; the money is used to help children around the world.

8 11. To create a simple costume, just wear black clothing and make-up. 12. Parents don’t want kids to overload on sugary candy and fattening treats. 13. Scary costumes have frightening masks. 14. Some houses seem haunted and spooky sounds keep trick-or-treaters away. 15. Recently many people have started dressing their furry friends in silly costumes too!
