3 Lonnie K. Bass 25 Years

4 Lonnie K. Bass – 25 Years  Lonnie is a Deputy Chief Plans Examiner.  He was hired by Building Safety in 1990 as a Plans Examiner.  Lonnie was promoted to Deputy Chief Plans Examiner in 2006.  He is licensed as a certified Plans Examiner and Building Inspector by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.  Lonnie has a Bachelor of Architecture degree. *

5 Convention Center Fiscal & Operational Support

6 Kris S. Shoemaker 30 Years

7 Kris S. Shoemaker – 30 Years  Kris is a Chief Financial Officer.  He was hired as a Fiscal Clerk on April 15, 1985, which is an appropriate hiring date for an Accountant, and has overseen various aspects of the Center’s Financial, Budgeting, Administration, Operations and Technology.  He participated in the Inaugural Leadership Academy and served as Chair of the Risk Management and Innovation Committees.  He holds five certifications in accounting, finance and technology.  He has participated in the funding of the Center’s four expansions. *

9 Gizele Wallace 25 Years

10 Gizele Wallace – 25 Years Gizele Wallace – 25 Years  Gizele is a Community Corrections Officer in the Inmate Programs Unit.  She started in 1990 as a front desk receptionist. She was promoted to Officer Aide and Community Corrections Officer.  While working in the Probation Unit she managed the caseload on a number of specialized teams.  Gizele has received many awards including a performance award, Teamwork Award, Most Valuable Person Award, and the Great Employee/Citizen Award for quickly and professionally responding to a defendant who collapsed during a probation appointment. *

11 De Ann L. Carr 30 Years

12 – 30 Years De Ann L. Carr – 30 Years  De Ann is a Community Corrections Officer on the Pretrial Diversion team.  She started at Great Oaks Village in 1985. She was quickly promoted to a Community Corrections Officer (Probation Officer) position.  She earned another promotion to a position in Offender Services and worked at the Work Release Center as a Treatment Counselor.  De Ann is a founding member of the Community Correction’s Staff Development Board and is a certified FDLE Instructor.  She assisted with the design and implementation of substance abuse treatment programs for the inmates of the Horizon Facility and many other jail facilities. *

13 Corrections In-Custody Support Services

14 William Jackson, Jr. 30 Years

15 – 30 Years William Jackson, Jr. – 30 Years  William is a Correctional Officer.  He started with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer (trainee).  After completing the Corrections Academy, he was assigned to the 33rd Street Complex. In 1990, he was selected to become the “B” Law Library Officer.  He was instrumental in the introduction and implementation of the inmate legal request system.  He gave a presentation on the County’s hybrid law library system at the American Association of Law Libraries Conference which brought national recognition to Orange County. In 2010, he moved to the Booking Release Center, Court Team and worked all areas of the courts. *

16 Family Services Youth and Family Services

17 Catherine Oconer Lao 20 Years

18 Catherine Oconer Lao – 20 Years  Catherine is a Residential Service Supervisor at Great Oaks Village.  In 1995, she started at the Youth Shelter as a Youth Resident Program Worker.  In 1997, she transferred to the Diversion Program as a Case Manager.  Catherine also worked as a Family Teacher at Great Oaks Village.  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Psychology at the Far Eastern University in the Philippines. *

19 Fire Rescue Fire Operations

20 Richard S. Streby 30 Years

21 Richard S. Streby – 30 Years  Richard is an Engineer assigned to Engine 53 “The Hornets’ Nest”.  Richard started in 1985 as a Firefighter/EMT at station 41.  After one year, he completed pump ops to become a relief engine driver.  He was recruited to work with Chip & Dale and Sparky the Fire Dog demonstrating fire safety at local Elementary schools.  Richard assisted in inventorying every piece of equipment on every fire apparatus throughout the county.  In September 2007, Richard was promoted to the rank of Engineer.*

22 Utilities Customer Service

23 David Eugene Dean 25 Years

24 David Eugene Dean – 25 Years  David is a Meter Reader II.  He started his Orange County career in 1990 as a Mail Courier in the General Services Department.  Four years later, he transferred to the Utilities Department as a Meter Reader I.  In 1995, he earned a promotion to Meter Reader II.  David takes pride in diligently training and mentoring new meter readers. *
