Sentinel Central Control Product Overview
2
If you could design a control product what benefits would it have to provide?
3
Be easy to use? Be reliable? Easy on your pocket book? Easy to expand to meet future needs? Save water and time? Shut down a system during a rainstorm or from a mainline break? What else? WOULD IT:
4
The Toro Company has been building control products for more than thirty years and believes we have a product that meets your needs and more.
5
How would this product meet your specific needs and applications?
6
EASY TO USE Simple user interface The ability to use only the features you need Modular design to adapt to the changing landscape
7
RELIABLE Successful track record in over 100 sites nationally A proven product built upon 30 years of experience with over five + years in the field UL & FCC approved ISO 9001 assembled
8
COST EFFECTIVE Competitively priced Hand-held remote radios uses your resources more effectively True two-way radio eliminates wire Reduces exposure to liability with sensor capability Built-in diagnostics, avoids expensive service calls
9
EXPANDABLE 12, 24, 36 & 48 station count controllers Wall Mount or Pedestal enclosures, Sensor capability - standard feature Hand-held remote ready - standard feature 4 levels of surge protection
10
SAVES TIME & MONEY Hand-held remote in stand-alone mode, saves time during repairs or provides extra level of safety for street median work Sensor capability reduces liability to prevent irrigation during rain storms, freezing weather or measuring daily ET values
11
How does this sound so far?
12
FIELD CONTROLLERS “The cornerstone of the Sentinel control system is the field controller” The field controller has many standard functions in a stand-alone mode that are not commonly found in controllers unless a part of a central system
13
FIELD CONTROLLERS Some of these strengths are: Hand-held remote radio Sensor capability Field diagnostics Simple user interface Map to Universal capability
14
WALL MOUNT OR PEDESTAL MOUNT CONFIGURATIONS 12, 24, 36 & 48 STATION COUNTS Satellites are constructed from 16 gauge Stainless Steel and are sealed to withstand the elements more effectively UL & FCC Approved
15
Switches, Chokes, LEDs, Gas Pills & Large Terminal Block STANDARD SURGE PROTECTION
16
SENSOR CAPABILITY Field controllers has 4 sensor inputs as a standard feature. Examples of some of these might be: ET gauge Low cost weather station Flow monitoring Freeze sensor Wind sensor
17
UPGRADABLE Flash memory software allows for controller updates from the central or a laptop No additional hardware necessary to expand to a central system Ability to add more station count
18
OPTIONS HAND-HELD REMOTE RADIOS SENSOR CAPABILITY MAP TO UNIVERSAL Flow sensors Weather stations Freeze sensors ET gauge
19
HAND-HELD RADIO 5-watt output, excellent range Data or voice capabilities* No additional radio hardware at field satellite Built-in transceiver in satellite *Exclusive to Toro
20
MAP TO UNIVERSAL - Concept - The ability to program and communicate with another field satellite within radio range of any station count. The map to universal field controller is identical to a standard controller with the exception it does not include a keypad.
21
Map to Universal field controller Field Controller Radio Range 2-5 Miles* * variables that impact radio coverage are: topography, man-made objects, fine textured foliage, radio power output. Coverage will vary from site to site and a site survey is recommended.
22
MAP TO UNIVERSAL Features: Hand-held radio remote in a stand-alone mode Sensor capability 12, 24, 36 & 48 station count Radio capable Can be upgraded with a central Wall mount and pedestal enclosures types Two-way radio communication
23
FIELD DIAGNOSTICS Portable carrying case for easy field usage Conduct field testing with portable kit.

25
Sentinel Central Control Product Overview
26
If you were to use a central control product what would it do?
27
Use Windows-based software? Communicate with multiple sites? Have nationwide communication? Identify multiple problems? Manage water allocation? Prioritize manpower & equipment resources? Provide customer support 24 / 7? WOULD IT:
28
The Toro company was the first to introduce an irrigation central controller back in 1970. Since then we have continued to improve upon the original concept, striving to fulfill your needs.
29
How would this product meet your specific needs and applications?
30
COMPUTER PROTOCOL Windows - based software Is supported on ‘95, ‘98, ‘2000 and NT operating systems 95% of all program changes can be made on one screen
31
COMMUNICATION WITH MULTIPLE SITES Reliable 2-way radio with a range of up to 5 miles Full access to field satellite program from the Central
32
NATIONAL COMMUNICATION Ability to communicate with satellites nationwide through an optional remote transceiver modem
33
REMOTE TRANSCEIVER MODEM FIELD SATELLITES FIELD SATELLITES WITHIN RADIO RANGE
34
IDENTIFY MULTIPLE PROBLEMS 2-way reporting on operation Will automatically identify communication failure Alarm response reporting capabilities Reporting capabilities
35
WATER MANAGEMENT Ability to adjust irrigation programs: Globally By groups of satellites By program By field satellite By individual station
36
MANPOWER & EQUIPMENT ALLOCATION Alarm response allows you to access field issues, then prioritize resources for corrective action, Report writing allows you to forward alarm response data to demonstrate response time
37
CUSTOMER SUPPORT 1-year standard NSN support plan 5-year NSN plan available Hardware and software phone support 24/7 Texas 2-step for more advanced software training Optional trouble shooting kit
38
SENTINEL IS: Reliable Expandable Cost effective User friendly

Do you think the Sentinel product meets your needs?
42
THANK-YOU
43
TESTIMONIALS “The best part about the whole program is the hand-held radios and turning them on & off when you check them so you don’t have to go back to the controller.” --Bill Chasteen, City of Gillette
44
TESTIMONIALS “The system works along with Windows. We have had the system for 12 years and have just kept upgrading as EICON upgraded the system. The best feature is the ability to handle multiple programs and schedules.” --Bob Claiborne, Highlands Ranch Parks
45
TESTIMONIALS “With Sentinel, we have the ability to control the site remotely and all from one location. I would recommend this product because of its ease of use and ability to solve any problems with it easily.” --Bob Morgan, City of Evanston
46

COMMON OBJECTIONS 1. “I don’t need a Central.” There is no need to purchase a Central, you can start with just the satellite and then move to a hand-held. You always have the option to expand later if needed. 2. “Do I need a Central to have hand-held capability?” No, you can use the hand-held with just the satellite. 3. “I only need 12 stations.” Sentinel is modular and therefore, you can use only 12 stations and add more in the future if needed or even move the satellites to different locations.
67
COMMON OBJECTIONS 4. “I don’t want to use a complicated computer program.” Sentinel’s computer program is Windows based and comes with simple installation instructions and a users’ guide. 5. “I don’t want to pay for costly upgrades.” Sentinel uses flash memory software updates, so you don’t have to purchase or wait for costly upgrades to arrive. 6. “I don’t want to use a product that is new.” Sentinel has been in the field for five years and is backed by a company with over thirty years of irrigation experience.
