KITCHEN CLEAN UP ALWAYS BEGIN AND END EACH LAB BY SANITIZING YOUR WORK AREA USING A PAPER TOWEL AND SANITIZER

DISH WASHING TECHNIQUES Preparing to wash: ▫ALWAYS rinse all dishes as soon as possible. ▫Stack rinsed dishes on the side of the sink with similar items together. ▫In the clean sink, place dish detergent. Add hot water until half full. ▫Place the dish rack on the counter with the drip going into the right sink. ▫Place hot water in the other sink or rinse the dishes individually, turning off the tap between dishes.

ORDER OF DISH WASHING Once the dishes have been rinsed and stacked, they should be washed, rinsed and stacked to be dried. Dishes should be washed in the following order ▫Glasses/cups ▫Silverware (forks, knives, spoons) used for eating ▫Plates /saucers/bowls ▫Preparation equipment ▫Serving utensils ▫Serving dishes ▫Saucepans and other cooking equipment

OTHER KITCHEN CLEAN UP In addition to doing dishes, the following items should be cleaned while completing your lab ▫Wash countertops ▫Wash canisters and shelves ▫Wash stove including burners ▫Wash microwave ▫Place dirty laundry in clothes basket ▫Replenish towels and cloths ▫Sweep floor
