People pit Paul’s teaching on works against James's teaching on works. Paulfaith works Paul, "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law." Romans 3:28 Jamesworks faith alone James "You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone." James 2:24 Oxymoron - an apparent contradiction

do not do what I say Luke 6:46 “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say ? who does the will of My Father Matthew 7:21, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

worthy Revelation 3:4 ‘But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. Same as used in Rev. 5:2, 4, 9, 12, (same word) worthy Ephesians 4:1 Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,

works good works Ephesians 2:8, For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

A look at works oneone one one one oneone 1.Ephesians 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all. one work one works 2.The Bible never says one work or one kind of works.

Gal 5:19-21 1.Works of the flesh, Gal 5:19-21 1 John 3:8 2.Works of the Devil-darkness, 1 John 3:8 Titus 3:5 3.Works of right-moral goodness, Titus 3:5 Rom 3:20 4.Works of the Law, Rom 3:20 Romans 10:1f 5.Work of men-own righteousness, Romans 10:1f 6.Work of God-works of Faith. John 6:28-29

A look at the 2 kinds of works used in the bible The Works are: merit a. works of merit, faith b. works of faith.

A look at works We are saved by one kind of Work and not by the other. a. not works of merit b. but works of faith

Works of merit: Romans 4:2, Romans 4:2, For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.” 4 Now to one who works, wages are not reckoned as a gift but as something due. 5 But to one who without works trusts him who justifies the ungodly, such faith is reckoned as righteousness. 6 So also David speaks of the blessedness of those to whom God reckons righteousness apart from works : Works of faith: James 2:21 James 2:21 Was not our ancestor Abraham justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was brought to completion by the works. 23 Thus the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

By Works of merit: save 1.We can’t save ourselves, justify 2.We can’t justify ourselves merit 3.We can’t merit, earn 4.We can’t earn, deserve 5.We don’t deserve. By Works of faith: 1.Will save us, 2.Will justify us merit 3.Still don’t merit, earn 4.Still don’t earn deserve 5.Still don’t deserve

Works of merit: 1. Can’t do to be saved 2. Can’t do to justify 3. Can’t do to merit 4. Can’t do to earn 5. Don’t do to deserve Works of faith: 1. Must do to be saved. 2. Faith + work will justify. 3. Still don’t earn. 4. Still can’t merit. 5. Still don’t deserve.
