8.   The beginning a report is called it’s introduction. This is a very important part of the report! It also must announce the topic of your report. You want to draw your readers in!  Ways to draw readers in with your introduction: 1.Ask a Question: “Have you ever wondered about…..?” 2.Tell an amazing fact! 3.Use sounds and effects: “WHAM! The basketball slammed into the hoop!” 4.Use a quote you found while researching Lesson 6: Drafting the introduction of a report

9.   Take 3 minutes and try to think of a GREAT way to start your introduction to your own report….  3 kids will get to share on the microphone!  1.  2.  3. **Quick note, your introduction also briefly tells the readers of your subtopics!*** Let’s try that with our own topics…

Good writers do not write RUN ON SENTENCES: Example:  To practice these, we are going to have you work in study island and complete a topic.
