3 What are we aspiring to implement?  Big idea and KUD ( block & lesson planning, share with colleagues )  Project based learning( lesson planning, unit planning, project work during vacations while making them to use the resources available )  Four Noble truths( teaching strategy, solve various youth problems, family, our own problems )  MI in the classroom( teachers work together once in a month)  Subject Integration( in practice but hesitantly, need to do more meaningfully throughout the lessons )

4 Unit: identity  Topic: Community based Culture

5 Big Idea  Students will know about the local culture and understand the strength and take pride in it and create awareness among others.

6 Essential questions  How can you take interest in your culture?  How can we be responsible to keep the community culture alive?  How do we go about creating awareness about the culture in the community?  What are the community culture?  How can we preserve/ promote our culture?  What do you want to do to be a good person in the community?  How is our culture unique from others?  How the local culture originated?

7 KnowUnderstandDo At the end of the project, all students should know….  more about their local culture and value  their local beliefs  appreciate local practices(dance, songs, lozey, games, language)  the dates of the local events  the names of the local deities and worship  meaning and the origin of the place, local festivals.  How to develop curiosity,interest,spirit of coperation,honesty, mutual support,and creativity. At the end of the project all students should understand…..  the reasons for practicing the local culture  the importance of local beliefs and festivals  the advantage and disadvantage of local practices.  the ways to preserve and promote the local festivals and culture.  the importance of participation  the differences between various (Zhungdra and Boedra) At the end of the project all students should be able to …..  do research through field trip and interview ( using questionnaire)  create awareness to friends and family.  design posters, models and pamplets.  compose songs and dances.  do role play to help other students to understand the culture.

8 Do research through field trip and interview (Using questionnaire) Meaning and the origin of the festivals. Age group: 11- 13 years Objectives: By the end of the lesson, each child should be able to 1. talk about the different types of festivals 2. feel the importance of having local festivals. 3. explore about the local festival. Materials: local environment, questionnaires, pictures, Introduction: Ask student what they know about their local festival in group. Each group will present their findings. Teacher gives value talks on festivals.

9 Lesson Development: Teacher give clear instructions on how to go about with the activity (field trip). Ask the students to come up with questions that can be used during the interview in groups. Let the groups share their questionnaire to the whole class and then discuss what some of the questions that can be used for the interview. Children will make questionnaires together with the teacher. Subjects that can be integrated.

11 DO Activity Children go for a field trip on the day of the festival with the teacher. Follow up/Closure Write a reflection on the interview they did and share it among their classmates. Buddy interaction
