3 BRAC Regional Planning Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA) worked with communities to establish BRAC planning group Quantico Growth Management Committee (QGMC) –Prince William County –Stafford County –Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) OGMC Charter –BRAC focus- transportation, housing, lodging, workforce development –Limited duration

4 Post BRAC Regional Planning? BRAC and QGMC provided an organization, and process for collaboration on BRAC issues –What happens after BRAC is completed? –Does the QGMC close leaving void in Base- Community Planning? –How do we build and broaden the organization, scope, processes and relationships developed through the BRAC process?

6 Table Top Exercise Overview Purpose: Develop a shared vision that identifies common interests and concerns, and the planning partnerships and process needed to pursue regionally beneficial growth over the next 20 years. Scope: Exercise covered a 20 year period and address Economic Development and Land Use concerns in addition to highlighting future focus areas for collaboration and a model for collaboration moving forward.

7 Exercise Overview – Objectives Identify the mechanisms (e.g. processes, partnerships constructs, information needs, etc.) needed for regional stakeholders to work together to pursue mutually beneficial regional growth. Further develop planning and information sharing relationships between region stakeholders based on a common understanding of growth opportunities and challenges facing the region. Create a regional map of projected growth and development that identifies the opportunities and challenges that the region will likely face level over the next 20 years. Create an Action Plan that identifies shared regional goals, objectives and recommended actions that will allow stakeholders to leverage their common interest and concerns and communicate with one voice.
