3. 3 Why all the attention now?  Explosion in cell phone use.  New technologies (navigation systems, traveler information systems, etc.)  Greater complexity of “old” technologies (radios, sound systems, vehicle displays, etc).  People spending more time in cars. Cell Phone usage in the US has increased from 34 million to 203 million in the last ten years.
