5. Opening Prayer: The Good Samaritan (Lk 10:30-37) Jesus replied, "A man fell victim to robbers as he went down from Jerusalem to Jericho. They stripped and beat him and went off leaving him half-dead. A priest happened to be going down that road, but when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. Likewise a Levite came to the place, and when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him was moved with compassion at the sight. He approached the victim, poured oil and wine over his wounds and bandaged them. Then he lifted him up on his own animal, took him to an inn and cared for him….

6. The Good Samaritan The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper with the instruction, 'Take care of him. If you spend more than what I have given you, I shall repay you on my way back’.” Jesus asked, “Which of these three, in your opinion, was neighbor to the robbers' victim?" He answered, "The one who treated him with mercy." Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

The Sixth Commandment: You shall not commit adultery “God gives personal dignity equally to both men and women; each should acknowledge and accept his sexual identity” (CCC, n. 2393) Do’s: -Chastity-Temperance -Mutual respect-Fidelity -Natural Family Planning (not “rhythm”) Don’ts: -Lust -Fornication (intercourse outside of marriage) -Masturbation-Pornography- Divorce -Prostitution -Contraception- Homosexual activity ___________________________________________ Defends: Marriage, dignity of the human person, chastity, and virtue

The Virtue of Chastity “Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person and thus the inner unity of man and his spiritual being.” (CCC, n. 2337) Expected of all Christians, both unmarried and married… “Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self- mastery that teach them inner freedom…by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.” (CCC, n. 2359)

The Eighth Commandment: You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor “Put on the new man, created after the likeness of God, in true righteousness and holiness” (Eph 4:24) Do’s: Honesty - Truthfulness Discretion-Bear witness to God and his Gospel Don’ts: Disrespecting another’s reputation-False witness-Calumny Boasting-Perjury-Lying Rash judgment-Detraction Defends: Dignity of the human person, charity Isn’t Truth Relative?
