2 Your Task Plan a three day trip around Georgia

3 Your Task Students will plan a three day trip around Georgia utilizing the resources available on the Internet, in magazines, brochures and books.

4 What should be included in my project? Title Page Introduction Description of Vehicle Budget Information Packing List Map Journal Pictures of places visited Conclusion Bibliography Class Presentation

5 Step 1 – Title Page Create a title page with the following information on it: Title of your road trip Your name Class Period Date

6 Step 2 – Introduction Write a brief introduction including the following: Briefly introduce yourself Briefly describe where you plan to travel and why Time of year you plan to travel

7 Step 3 – Transportation You must select and rent a vehicle of your choice for your trip around Georgia. Include the following information about your vehicle in your project: A picture of your vehicle Type of Vehicle Rental cost for 3 days Gallons of gas tank holds Gas mileage

8 Step 4 - Budget Give a detailed budget report of all money spent Clearly organize by category all money spent on your trip Provide totals on each category

9 Step 5 – Packing List Packing List – include a packing list of everything you will need on your trip Describe the weather conditions for your destination Include a list of clothes and other necessities needed on your trip Make sure you consider the amount of space available in your vehicle and the weather

10 Step 6 - Map Map – include a map showing all of the places you visited on your trip Include a map clearly indicating starting and stopping point for each day of the trip Your map should clearly show the route followed each day Your map may be hand drawn, computer generated, or purchased

11 Step 7- Journal Journal- include three journal entries, at least one page per day for each of your trip. Your journal should include the following: Starting and stopping point for each day Number of miles traveled and hours on the road for the day Routes taken and direction traveled each day Where you lodged Where you ate (be detailed) In-depth description of interesting places and restaurants you visited

12 Step 8 - Pictures Pictures – include pictures of some of the interesting places and restaurants visited Make an attractive display of pictures showing some of the restaurants and places you have visited on your trip around Georgia Your display should focus on the places you visited on your trip Make sure your display is neat and colorful

13 Step 9 - Conclusion Conclusion – your conclusion should include the following: Closing comments about your trip A summary of what you saw and where you went A summary of what you learned from your trip

14 Step 10 – Sources Sources – List all sources used in your project Make a list of all sources used in your project

15 Make sure you have followed all of the Rules of the Road!

16 Step 11 Presentation – Include the following in your presentation: Display and explain your map Show the picture of your vehicle and report on the price of the rental Briefly tell about the places and restaurants you visited on your trip (Do NOT read from your journals- summarize) Briefly report on your budget, what was the grand total of your trip, how much did you spend in each category Show pictures of places visited

17 Rules of the Road You do not have to start in your home city. You can start your trip anywhere in the state of Georgia. You must visit at least two different places each day You must return to where you started but by a different route

18 Rules of the Road Continued Gas costs $4.00 a gallon for your trip. Keep track of your mileage and do not forget to put gas in your vehicle You must make it to your destination and back in 3 days You must eat three meals a day

19 Rules of the Road Continued You have an unlimited budget but you must keep track of all of your expenditures You may travel with a friend but each student must complete his/her own project to turn in

20 Rules of The Road Continued Lodging costs may differ but you must stay in a hotel/motel/bed and breakfast- no camping, sleeping in the car or staying with friends or family YES! You are old enough to drive for this project but no, you cannot drink, gamble, or participate in or initiate any illegal activities
