Nurse Summer Training Program (NSTP)
Provides cadets 150 hours of “Hands-On” clinical nursing in a 1:1 preceptorship at an Army medical center Assigned to 24-hr nursing services: Medical Surgical Critical Care Emergency Maternal Child Some schools award academic credit for NSTP attendance Assignments are based on Cadet’s performance (GPA, APFT), preference, and availability of preceptors

HIGHLY Competitive (3.4 avg CGPA) Will work as a full-time Army Nurse Additional education opportunities Specialty Courses Long Term Health Education & Training (LTHET) Some career limitations (e.g., pediatrics, Neonatal ICU) Reserve Component Can serve in USAR or National Guard Not limited to nursing If nursing, may fill a specialty slot (e.g., critical care, perioperative)

AMEDD BOLC Located at AMEDD Center & School, Fort Sam Houston, TX
9 weeks 3 Phases: Didactic Training (4 weeks) Basic military skills AMEDD functions Officership Field Training (3 weeks) AOC Specific Training (Nursing—2 weeks)

Clinical Nurse Transition Program (CNTP)
6 month transition from university to practice Must complete a minimum of 936 clinical hours of precepted direct patient care Must participate in 6 seminars After CNTP (based on RN abilities) ACLS, PALS, TNCC, Charge Nurse Preceptor Work Schedule follows Preceptor’s Most MTF’s utilize 12 hr shifts, 84 hours/2 weeks Most rotate between day and night shift
