Q Magazine was founded by Mark Ellen and David Hempworth after they felt there was a gap in the market for a good quality music magazine which appealed to both older buyers (those who purchased CDs) and the new generation that was emerging and using technology. The first magazine was published in October 1986 originally called “Cue” (as to cue the music) but was then changed to Q so it wouldn’t be confused as a snooker magazine. Q is published monthly by media company Bauer Media Group with its mission statement being “Discover modern music”. The magazine includes a review section which includes new releases, reissues, film and live concert reviews along with radio and television reviews but with most of its magazine devoted to interviews with popular music artists. There are often cover mounts attached to the magazine such as CDs or books. Q is known for its lists that it compiles such as “100 Greatest Albums” and usually every other month it releases a special edition, about musical times, genres or influences.

Every issue of Q has a different message on the spine, now known as the “spine line” that is related to the contents of that magazine. Q magazine also has “Q Radio” which was launched in June 2008 and Q TV, a music television channel. Q also holds a yearly award ceremony, “The Q Awards”. Q magazine is also the official magazine that covers the famous Glastonbury Festival held in England each year, and is it’s official magazine partner. Double click here to view Q’s media pack
